Now, if you are choosing a roofing contractor to install your new roof, or if you are in need of a roofer to fix your roof, then it is crucial that you make the right choice. In Illinois, workers involved in roofing services can choose to get state certified under the Illinois Roofing Industry Licensing Act. Such certification also has several advantages for both roofers and consumers. On that note, let me provide an overview of the primary benefits for your consideration.
The primary gain that official roofing certification offers is the trust and credibility that exists between the roofing contractors and the homeowners. Some roofers show the Illinois state roofing license to their customers and when they do, it means that the contractor was thoroughly vetted.
EPAs in Illinois require roofers to be certified after passing an industry standard test that covers issues like building codes, materials to use, installation practices, safety requirements, and others. Owners must also have general liability insurance and worker compensation policies that protect homeowners against mishaps that occur within properties. All of this is used to prove that certified roofers want to work professionally and that they are capable of doing roofing work safely.
This gives the customers confidence with contractors and this goes a long way in ensuring that there is trust established. Consumers are more assured when engaging the service of certified contractors and acting on their suggestions in roofing projects.
Another advantage of the roofing contractors attaining state certification is that it increases the number of jobs available to the roofers in Illinois. In this regard, numerous homeowners search for licensed contractors particularly when putting out bids or posting jobs. Contract documents are beneficial for roofers because it sets them apart from other self-employed workers or independent contractors or handyman.
Further, it is typical for the well-set roofing companies to employ only licensed roofers or to assist apprentices to get a license. Receiving certification means a lot and means that the person is willing to work extra hard to gain a certificate in that particular trade. It can help in increasing the number of vacancies for Illinois roofers to apply for.
Learning the statutes of Illinois state is another benefit for certified contractors since they meet all the requirements of roofing. The license exam in Illinois involves questions on the Illinois Roofing Industry Licensing Act together with other issues relating to the building codes and laws.
This working knowledge of state laws go hand in hand with the state certified roofers in order to enhance their work output that has been fully compliant. For instance, they will be knowledgeable in the code requirements on permitting, permitted materials, the minimum code standards for wind resistance, and specific customer information that has to be disclosed. These ensure that roofers maintain compliance in their operations, making clients consider them professional, and also ensures that roofers do not suffer from penalties or fines.
But in Illinois, state law declares that it is unlawful for non-certified contractors to acquire roofing permits or engage in work that costs a thousand dollars or more. The pulling of permits for roof replacement and repair is an activity that is legally restricted to only those roofing companies that have official license.
Thus, getting certified is compulsory for any roofing contractor who wants to legalize his company and obtain permits for working with customers. It also spares homeowners the steps of having to pull roofing permits on their own in jurisdictions which allow this. Roofing companies may take care of the permit on behalf of their clients in order to make the entire process easier.
Last of all, as mentioned, receiving roofing certification means more or less receiving an official stamp from the roofing industry indicating that the roofer in question has met the necessary standards and is able to employ necessary skills and knowledge. Upon fulfilling all the said requirements, it is acknowledged by the state of Illinois that a roofer is capable of providing professional services.
It seems beneficial to the individual and also promotes the image of certified contractors on the market. Homeowners can easily verify licenses in the Illinois Roofing Industry Licensing database too. Therefore, when customers are investigating prospective roofers, the ones who have the appropriate paperwork will appear clearly.
To roofers who have raw interest and love for their jobs, the process of getting professional certification is a sign of dedication to the best quality, safety, and service. It is for this reason that it is a lasting commitment that has been favored by many customers, legal bodies, job seekers, and industry across the state. It is not easy to get certification to work as an Illinois Roofer, but the many fruits which the contractors get to reap are worth the endeavor.
